YOUNGSTERS are to become film makers to make a social history of life in Llandudno’s Tudno and Mostyn wards which will be shown on the big screen in May.
And older people are being asked to come forward with their memories and photographs to be featured in the 45-minute film.
“The intention is to gather individual personal material, photographs, memories, stories funny or sad, events that may have happened along the way, changes that people have witnessed or experienced, alongside interviews and opinions from across the whole spectrum of young and old, good or bad and even downright eccentric.
“This project is about everybody living in and around the Tre Cwm Estate and the Tudno and Mostyn Wards and those living in or close to the T Llywelyn Community Centre,” said youth worker Billy Brown who is masterminding it together with police Community Beat Manager Kevin Smith.
“Kevin has donated some of the money he received for being CBM of the year to help fund it. The intention is to make an inspirational, entertaining film about the community exploring all the things that make it unique and to demonstrate why people want to live here.
“We want everybody to contribute to get involved and to share his or her experiences. This project is about finding out what it means to belong to a particular community and through that process to celebrate that special sense of identity,” said Billy.
At a series of workshops youngsters will be trained to use a camera, write a script, and edit film They will also go out and about in the community interviewing people. The completed film will be shown at Cineworld in Llandudno Junction at a special showing to which members of the community will be invited.
“We hope it will give everyone involved a real sense of achievement and pride in the area in which they live,” added Billy.
Anyone wishing to take part should contact him at T Llywelyn Community Centre.
