LITTLE Lowri Haf Roberts had a special Christmas treat when she met Liverpool FC captain and England international Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool’s football stars visited Lowri and gave her a cuddly toy, saying they wanted to make her Christmas dreams come true.
The two-year-old cancer sufferer met the football star whilst undergoing chemotherapy at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Lowri, from Bryn Mair, Llanfairfechan, suffers from rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer, and has a tumour between her bowel and bladder. Lowri’s family and friends are busy campaigning to raise money to take her to Paris for life-saving treatment.
Lowri’s mum Lynne told the Weekly News: “The health board is paying for the medical treatment, but we have to pay for flights and accommodation. The community has done so much to help with fundraising for Lowri.”
Six hundred pounds raised at a memorial football game for a Llandudno suicide victim will go to help the tot.
The game played on December 27 in memory of taxi boss Darrel Musgrove, was between Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club and Rhos United Football Club, of whom Darrel, 37, was a sponsor. Players and spectators at the game were asked for a £5 donation on the day.
Darrel’s brother Garrad said: “My brother would have been honoured to have helped in this way, as he did support local causes and had a daughter himself whom he loved dearly.”
A night of entertainment in aid of Lowri is to be held at the Labour Club in Llandudno Junction on March 11 from 8pm. Everton FC legends Howard Kendal, Gordon West, Roger Kenyon and Gary Jones are to attend, where many prizes, including Everton memorabilia, will be raffled off.
