Raw sewage dumped on driveways in Llandudno Junction

Sewage

RAW sewage is being dumped on residents’ driveways in Llandudno Junction because of drainage problems.

The smelly problem occurs in Victoria Drive when there is heavy rain, which results in flooding.

One resident has tried to report the problem to Welsh Water but says she found them to be unhelpful and uncommunicative. The problem for some households has apparently being going on for years.

Margaret Jones said: “The drainage system doesn’t work properly so with any heavy rain the gullies become full and the manhole cover near our houses comes off, and so raw sewage is deposited on our driveways.

“There is also a terrible smell in our toilets and bathrooms as the sewage backs up our pipes. It’s disgusting and many people have lived with this problem for years on the road.

“I’ve tried to phone Welsh Water to complain but have had no luck. All I want is an address to write to or at least an email, but I keep being told it’s not possible.”

Neighbour Basil Farrant commented: “I’ve had sewage dumped on my driveway for the past 18 years.

“Every time there’s any heavy rain all sorts of noxious stuff is deposited on the driveway and I’ve got to pressure hose it back down the road.

“The manhole cover near the house comes up about six inches, which is also dangerous for motorists.”

Cllr Mike Priestley said: “Having sewage deposited on residents’ driveways is both disgusting and hazardous to health. I will challenge Welsh Water on this issue and ask them why the problem hasn’t been rectified.”

A Welsh Water spokesman commented: “Our systems show we haven’t received any recent reports of flooding to Victoria Drive, Llandudno. We are sending a crew to attend the area as soon as possible to investigate the issue.”
