Llandudno hairdresser to compete in Miss Universe

A HAIRDRESSER is a cut above the rest after successfully reaching the final stages of a prestigious international beauty pageant.

Having always dreamt of becoming a model, 20-year-old Catrin Jane Davies, right, from Tal-y-Bont is just a step away from achieving her dreams of international stardom after reaching the quarter finals of the Miss Universe 2009 competition.

“I work at Clinton James hair salon in Llandudno Junction, and have always wanted to be a model,” said stylist Catrin.

“I am always being complimented on my looks, which has built up my confidence. I also have a professional modelling portfolio to help me achieve my dreams.

“I have had a few modelling offers but because they have been in London I haven’t been able to attend,” added Catrin.

“That’s why I wanted to become involved in beauty competitions. Unfortunately I missed out on the Miss Wales competition as I would have needed to enter Miss Conwy first. That’s when I decided to enter Miss Universe and now I’m through to the quarter finals.”

As part of the next stage of the competition Catrin will travel to Manchester in January with the other Miss Universe hopefuls to help raise money for the Joshua Foundation. She is also on the look-out for a sponsor.

“In order to progress to the next stage of the Miss Universe competition I have to secure a £500 sponsor to take part in the competition. In exchange for their help they get publicity for as long as I am in the competition. Without a sponsor I cannot continue my dream and compete.”
