ST ASAPH residents have paid tribute to a former trader and well-known figurehead of the community, who died last week.
Well-wishers gathered for a funeral at Church in Rhuddlan last Thursday to pay their respects to Colin Miller, who passed away on November 19 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wife Lynn spoke of a kind and cheerful man who had a passion for golfing and was also a well-known figure in the scouting community.
“Colin was a lovely, happy chap who everybody admired and he was always ready to help anybody,” she said. “He was always a very cheerful man who loved what he did, and he touched a lot of lives.”
Lynn and Colin moved to St Asaph in 1986 following nine years managing a newsagent’s in Rhyl, and spent 20 years running the store on the city’s High Street, now known as City News.
The pair retired in 2006 after three decades of working in the newsagent business, leaving Colin to concentrate on golfing, which Lynn described as the main passion in his life.
Mr Miller was also well known for his success in business, running stores in Rhyl and Abergele before finally setting up in St Asaph, according to son Paul.
Colin leaves wife Lynn, children Paul and Caroline, and three grandchildren Richard, Daniel and Summer.
