Madge’s hubby is still rocking

WRITTEN and directed by Guy Ritchie, RocknRolla (cert 15, 114 mins) follows Madge’s hubby’s usual formula and is well worth the entrance fee for fans of Lock, Stock and Snatch.

Unbelievably it’s 10 years now since Ritchie, as a young, cutting-edge and quintessentially British film director brought his brand of fast-paced, music video inspired London gangster movies to the silver screen.

This is a better film than 2005’sRevolver and more importantly less confusing for those of you, who like me, were left slightly puzzled by the 100mph plot and frenzy of characters.

The film tells the story of a Russian billionaire and mafia boss (who has more than a passing resemblance to Roman Abramovich) who sets up shop for his real estate business in London and works with the highly corrupt criminal under-world against the tide of long established old-school east end mobsters.

In typical Ritchie fashion there are too many characters and various intertwining plots for this review to go into more detail, but this is a good looking film which will please fans of the genre. However, if you don’t like Ritchie’s other work then jog on!
