Conwy County Council launches schools consultation

A PUBLIC consultation into primary school education in Conwy county began on Monday, inviting parents to have their say on possible plans to close and merge certain schools and improve services.

Conwy County Council will be fully reviewing the education provision in the area between now and 2010, and is now asking the public to comment on a new Key Priorities document, which has been sent to all households.

A Conwy LEA spokesperson said: "The world is constantly changing and we must change with it. The role of schools in providing education and access to other services for children, families and communities is changing and we have to adapt to this change.

"We must ensure our school buildings, teaching resources and pupils' learning experiences are fit for the purposes of today's world, and can prepare our children and young people for tomorrow."

The document outlines the draft key priorities for the future of primary schools in Conwy. It describes the educational resources the authority wants all children to have access to.

The consultation period for this document is from Monday, September 1 until Friday, October 17 2008. You can read the document on the council website, as well as complete a response form. Go to www.conwy.gov.uk
