In too much pain to scream
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young man’s leg was broken in a savage attack in a Colwyn Bay nightclub at the weekend.
According to police reports the assault happened at 2am on Saturday when a 25-year-old man was set upon by two other men in the Litten Tree pub on Station Road and punched and kicked.
The man is reported to have head and serious leg injuries and the Weekly News understands one leg has multiple fractures.
One 25-year-old bar worker witnessed the attack and said the man appeared to be in a dreadful state.
“It kicked off inside the pub,” he said. “It was one of the worst states I’ve seen anybody in for a long time and I’ve worked in the pub industry for years. He was in that much pain he couldn’t scream. His leg was all broken up.”
DC John Gage of North Wales CID branded the attack cowardly and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
“This was a cowardly, unprovoked attack on an unsuspecting man who had no chance of protecting himself,” he said.
“The victim is traumatised as a result of his assault and his recovery will take months. There were a number of people in the pub at the time and we urge anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward.”
Insp Jane Banham added: “This is a licensed premises with people drinking so I would guess the attack is alcohol related.
“Colwyn Bay is a safe place to live. There has been a reduction in violent crime and assaults like this are rare. It has been a long time since an incident like this has been brought to my attention.
“The suspects know what they’ve done. We need to review all the CCTV evidence and there is quite a lot of it.”
The Litten Tree management declined to comment but said CCTV footage had been passed to police.
