Dolgarrog Maze listed in 100 Dream Destinations book

A TOP-SELLING tourism book has listed a maze in the Conwy Valley as one of the 100 best places to visit in the world.

Life Books has just published Dream Destinations: 100 of the World’s Best Vacations, which includes Dolgarrog’s two-acre garden maze.

Owner Giovanni Jacovelli said: “It was one of our visitors from Texas who informed me that the maze had been mentioned in this book.

“I’ve no idea how we got into the book or when the people who produced it came to visit us, all I know is they liked it enough to list us as one of their dream destinations for a holiday, which is quite an achievement and a great accolade.

“We’re far more famous in America than we are in the UK,” he added. “We have been interviewed previously for an American gardening programme and feedback from our American visitors says they appreciate the effort that goes into the upkeep of the maze.

“However, we do also get a lot of local visitors who keep coming back for a family day out as we have a woodland walk and picnic facility too.”

The beautifully photographed coffee table book, which sections off its suggested dream destinations into categories, including families, cultural venues, sightseers, sporty types, history buffs and romantics, calls the maze at T Hwnt i’r Afon a botanical treasure not to be missed.

“The maze is more than two acres in size. This construction of English engineering is one of the world’s largest hedge mazes and one more wonderful way to lose yourself in Snowdonia.”

Dolgarrog maze features alongside other international attractions such as Africa’s Victoria Falls and Borneo’s rainforests.
