POLICE have drawn a blank during a stop-and-search operation in the Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea areas.
Officers were on the lookout for anyone suspected of carrying knives or offensive weapons but none of the 35 people stopped during a 12-hour period last Saturday were carrying knives or other serious weapons
One man was carrying what police have described as a "home made weapon." The 27-year-old was arrested and charged and appeared before magistrates on Monday.
The operation was launched after violent incidents in East Conwy, the most recent during a robbery in Rhos-on-Sea where a knife was wielded.
"We are determined to keep knives off the streets and will continue to tackle knife crime in a robust and proactive manner,” said district inspector Jane Banham.
To report incidents of knife crime or violent behaviour contact North Wales Police on 0845 6071001(Welsh), 0845 6071002 (English) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
