LLANFAIRFECHAN will play host to an exotic belly-dancing show this weekend.
The quarry village may not be the first place you’d expect to find belly-dancers but it will play host to a show featuring acclaimed dancer Jim Boz as well as talented local performers.
Belly-dancing classes have been held in Llanfairfechan for two years. Now their popularity has inspired dancer Rhiannon Graham to put on a show featuring Californian Mr Boz this Saturday , with a range of dance and drumming workshops to run over the weekend. Llanfairfechan is just one of five stops on Jim’s whistle-stop belly-dancing tour of the UK.
Julia Coates, belly dance instructor for the Llanfairfech-an Sheikas, is looking forward to the weekend of dance.
“Belly-dancing is very popular in Llanfairfechan, indeed there is a growing passion for it across North Wales.
“It’s great fun to do, keeps you fit and the classes are very sociable. I lived in Kuwait for a number of years where I got a feel for the music and it’s great to share that with people here.’’
Jim Boz’s show is at 7.30pm on Saturday at Llanfairfechan Town Hall, tickets priced £10.
A class for improving dancers will run from 3-5pm on Saturday, a beginners’ dance class will run on Sunday.
