Thank Derek for the music

A POPULAR shopkeeper retiring after 22 years will hand over the keys to his music store in Colwyn Bay to a young businessman.

Derek Kershaw, who has run Music Makers since opening on Princes Drive in 1986 before he moved to Penrhyn Road in 1989, is selling up to Jody Goode, 30.

Derek, 74, said he will miss running his shop in the town and especially his customers, but added he hoped tea and biscuits would still be on offer courtesy of new owner Jody.

“I will miss the people,” he said. “I don’t think you can do something that long without missing it.

“I’d like to thank all my customers very much. I value their friendship and their custom. I hope that my customers remain loyal.

“We haven’t been here for 22 years without doing something right.

“It is the way you treat people and the way you sell. ”

Derek says he plans to pursue music as a hobby. “I’m into art and music so hopefully now I’ll get chance to play the piano a bit,” he said.
