Protest at badger cull

ANIMAL rights campaigners marched along Colwyn Bay promenade to protest against badger culling.

The rally followed an announcement last month that while the Government would not permit badger culling in England to counter the spread of bovine tuberculosis to cattle, there would be no such ban in Wales and Scotland.

Around 100 protesters turned out to support the rally at the Assembly building on Princes Drive before marching along Marine Drive to the seafront.

Founder of North Wales Animal Rights Judi Hewitt explained the protesters’ reasoning for the march: “The finger of blame for this epidemic of bovine TB points directly at Government and farmers.

“They have allowed lax cattle movement control and insufficient testing to let us get to the position we now find ourselves in. Gatherings like this send a very clear message that they will not get away with massacring our wildlife for folly.”
