AFTER a year of hard work, students of the Caernarfon Arts Project's Rock School took to the stage last Wednesday.
Meinir Evans, who runs the project, explained: "The concert was held at the Celtic Royal Hotel, in Caernarfon, and was filmed for TV, and a CD was made of the night.
" We had about 40 students taking part aged between nine and 18. They performed a variety of songs, including two that they had composed themselves. There was a mixtureofrock and pop songs, and in the middle of the evening there was a jazz set, with a harp and saxophone.
"There was also a performance by a group of little girls who imitated the girl band Atomic Kitten, who were singing on a backing track. The tutors also sang a song.
"The students have spent last term practising for the concert, and before that they have been learning work. Some of them had never seen an instrument in their lives before but since the classes, a rock band has been formed by the kids and they have got it up and running themselves.
"Everyone has worked really hard, and the show had something for everybody."
