No A-level failures at Coleg Llandrillo

COLEG Llandrillo celebrated after reporting a 100% pass rate in 30 subjects in its A-level results.

The Rhos-on-Sea college also had an overall pass rate of over 95% across the board.

The college has nearly 400 students studying 55 A-level and AS-level subjects as well as many on Welsh baccalaureate courses.

College principle, Huw Evans congratulated his students.

"Coleg Llandrillo is again pleased to report results which are outstanding and a credit to both students and staff at the college," he said.

"Year on year the College has demonstrated consistent improvements in line with national statistics from a very large cohort of A and AS level students," he said.

"The majority of these students will be progressing to universities across the country. This year, we have two students who are going on to study degrees at Cambridge University. Many of these students will be continuing their college experience and progressing on to degree level higher education courses at Coleg Llandrillo."

Rebecca Chapman from Llandudno sat four A-levels in law, sociology, media studies and Welsh Language, as well as achieving the Welsh baccalaureate. She got one B and three C grades, and is now going to Leeds Metropolitan University to study a degree in business and management as well as Polish. Rebecca worked alongside several Polish colleagues in a hotel in Llandudno during her studies and picked up the language and an interest in Polish culture. "I loved my time at college. Enrolling on the A-Levels courses was the best decision I have ever made," she said.

Faye Best from also Llandudno arrived for her results with mum, dad and younger brother in tow. Faye sat three A-Levels in English literature, art and design and textiles and got one B and two C grades. Faye said: "I would like to thank my tutors and family for their support during my studies. It was hard work, but I now feel it was totally worth it."
